From Jan. 19th - Jan. 26th, 2017, Ethiopian delegations headed by Mr. Kokeb Misrak, Director of Bilateral Cooperation Directorate at MOFEC were invited to Korea for the Interim Reporting and Policy Practitioner's Workshop.
The Interim Reporting Workshop was opened by Yong Rak CHOI, former president at Science and Tehcnology Policy Institute and senior advisor for 2016 KSP with Ethiopia. Korean researchers presented the interim results of the policy consultation paper and received feedback from the Ethiopian delegation.
For the Policy Practitioner's Workshop, KDI invited Ethiopian delegations to visit most relevant institutions on three research topics to provide first-hand experience and engage in networking opportunities with related Korean institutions. The list of institutions visited includes Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, LG Changwon Factory, Masan free trade zone, LH, LX, KATECH, KITRI etc. Moreover, there were four lectures on Korea's economic development, Housing policy, Public rental policy, and science and technology policy, where Ethiopian delegation could actively share ideas with the experts.
As a result, the delegation could discuss and provide feedback to Korean researchers on tentative recommendations and gain a first-hand experience by visiting relevant government agencies and organizations. Lastly, there was follow up seminar in which the policy practitioners presented their action plans to monitor and follow up on the policy recommendations.
