The Korean delegation headed by Dr. Hwasoo Park, the project manager for this project, visited Accra, Ghana on 6th~12th December to conduct an Interim Reporting Workshop which was hosted by Korea Institute of Development Strategy and Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Ghana.
The purpose of this visit was to disseminate the preliminary findings of the study on ¡°Linking Annual Budgets to National Development Plans of Ghana¡±, gain feedback and comments from local experts and officials participating in the Workshop and conduct additional research.
The Workshop launched with the opening remarks jointly made by the Deputy Minister of Finance (Hon. Fifi Kwetey) and the Ambassador of the Korean Embassy to Ghana (H.E. Sang Hak Lee). Around 35 local stakeholders participated in the workshop including members of the National Assembly who were actively involved in discussions as well as drew lessons from the Korean experience.
During this visit to Ghana, the Korean delegation participated in the seminar to present on ¡°Korea¡¯s Economic Development¡± which was hosted by the Institute of Social Studies and Economic Research (ISSER) in the University of Ghana in cooperation with the Korean Embassy. The seminar was intended to promote understanding of Korea among Ghanaian students and professors through presentation by the Korean delegation and active discussion on how Korea has achieved rapid growth. .
In the wrap-up meeting with the designated local experts for the KSP and focal-point from MOFEP, the Korean delegation agreed on further cooperation for improving research and next schedule of the KSP, a Policy Practitioners¡¯ Workshop planned to be held in early February in 2010.
